When your braces are removed, the retention stage of your treatment begins. This stage is very important so the results of your treatment will continue to persist
Dr Tepper-Adler uses different types of retaining methods.
Some of the retainers are fixed, while others are removable. There are certain removable retainers that bear aesthetic advantages such as the Essix® (suckdown) retainer.
An Essix® retainer is made of a clear, durable plastic material that snaps into place over your teeth. Similar to an Invisalign® aligner, it allows the teeth and gums to be visible through the plastic, making the retainers appear almost unnoticable.
Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far. Remember to remove a removable retainer before brushing, and brush your retainer before placing it back in your mouth.
